Bank employees on two-day strike

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana financial institution workers will observe a two-day strike on May 30 and 31 in the wake of the decision given by way of United Forum of Bank Unions.

The workers may even dangle an enormous demonstration at 9.30am on May 30 in front of Canara Bank, Bharat Nagar Chowk, and on May 31 in front of State Bank of India, Fountain Chowk.


Pawan Thakur, president of Punjab Bank Employees’ Federation, Ludhiana Unit, said, “The Indian Bank Association and the federal government has failed to fulfil our long-pending calls for. Besides, we got a meagre hike in our salaries. This has forced us to head on 48-hour strike until 6am on June 1.”


“All the worker associations beneath the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions and Punjab Bank Employees’ Federation will participate in the protest. We will make sure that most of the people isn't inconvenienced due to the agitation,” he added.


Bank workers said they have been presented best 2% hike in wages and their long-pending calls for, like improvement in other service stipulations, have remained unfulfilled.
