AHMEDABAD: CID (crime) on Tuesday moved a plea prior to an area court docket asking it to issue an an arrest warrant against former BJP MLA Nalin Kotadiya, in connection with the sensational Bitcoin case. The agency submitted that Kotadiya, “a politically influential person”, was no longer honouring summons and was evading arrest in a kidnapping and extortion case. CID also submitted that the former BJP MLA performed a significant role in the crime and therefore, “had to be arrested”.
Kotadiya, the former MLA from Dhari in Amreli district, is accused in the Bitcoin (cryptocurrency) extortion case in which several police officers, including a superintendent of police and an inspector of the native crime department, had been arrested.
Sessions judge P J Tamakuwala concluded the hearing at the utility and reserved the order for Thursday. CID advised the court docket that it had issued summonses to Kotadiya under phase 160 of CrPC, asking him to look prior to it on two occasions, however he had failed to do so.
