Coimbatore: Officials from town corporation, in conjunction with social activists, visited Selvachinthamani tank, Periyakulam, Muthannankulam and Narasampathi tank on Thursday and published plans to give a boost to the sluice gates at Selvachinthamani tank and desilt the canal from Selvachinthamani tank – Periyakulam.
TOI had printed a report in regards to the sorry state of sluice gates and outlet channels in the city water our bodies on May 10. The report also dropped at light rubbish dumping in the canal between Selvachinthamani tank and Periyakulam.
Following the report, city engineer Lakshmanan, Subash from Smart city consultancy, honorary secretary of the Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC) R Raveendran and R Manikandan of Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu visited Ukkadam Periyakulam and Selvachinthamani tank on Thursday.
Lakshmanan informed TOI that town corporation is making plans to desilt the canal between Selvachinthamani tank and Periyakulam. tnn
