A 3-month-old deer was mauled to demise through feral dogs close to Perundurai in Erode district on Friday.
The deer was a part of a herd that was within the forest house abutting Kunnathur Road in Perundurai. A pack of feral dogs roaming around the locality pounced on the herd and stuck the calf, forest officials said.
Public noticed the dogs mauling the calf and chased them away.
Later, they informed the forest officials. Forest body of workers who got here to the spot and tested the calf found that it was dead through then.
An autopsy was performed and the carcass was buried. tnn
