Feroze Gandhi market walks tightrope

Ludhiana: Despite directions from the Punjab and Haryana High Court for clear movement of the fire tenders and arrangement of fire hydrants on the Feroze Gandhi Market, the civic government seem to have have shut their eyes.
The hearth lane stays encroached all all through the day because the parking contractor asks other people to park their cars in that lane. The hydrants which have been installed in the market a few years ago are rusted and hearth officials claimed that these don't seem to be purposeful.

In case of a fireduring the day, it would be difficult for the fire tenders to achieve the spot and control the location due to congestion in the market. Though civic officials had installed the forums in the market designating the lane for movement of fire brigade cars but cars could be observed parked all over.

People seek advice from this marketplace steadily on account of places of work of a number of banks and different non-public sectors. The guests coming to the marketplace too really feel there may be want to uplift the haphazardly parked cars and different encroachments. A trader and resident of Pakhowal Road Nikhil Garg mentioned that house left for the passing of fire tenders will have to be stored empty so that there will have to not be any problem in time of emergency but here image is completely different.

The sub-fire officer, Srishti Nath admitted that it would were a difficult job to control state of affairs if incident would have happened all the way through day time. He mentioned the fire hydrants are there in marketplace but they didn't to find them purposeful.

In the past, there have been a number of incidents of fire in the market. A fireplace had damaged out in the basement of Swani Motors at Feroze Gandhi marketplace due to brief circuit on May 26, 2010. Similarly in some other incident a generator was set on hearth due to sudden brief circuit although in these incidents no loss of existence or property was reported but there may be want to streamline the gadget.

Meanwhile the MC Commissioner Jaskiran Singh claimed, “We stay on streamlining the parking in the market but there may be main issue of parking and other people park their cars in the hearth lane. We can even test the fire hydrants in case these don't seem to be purposeful we can restore.”

HC directions omitted

The HC had directed MC in March 2010 that water supply will have to be ensured in the market inside 3 months, 4 hydrants will have to even be installed at separate places and house for hearth tenders be earmarked in the market. Though government installed the forums in March 2011 but they never stricken to stay a test in the market.
