Immigration queues get longer due to server snag

BENGALURU: A technical issue with servers handling immigration in New Delhi resulted in lengthy queues at counters throughout airports, together with Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here on Sunday. Passengers took to social media to express their anguish.

“Immigration methods down at Bangalore airport. Queues spread for hours. Being told it’s the same throughout airports & because of an IT issue in Delhi? (sic),” tweeted Chirag Kohli, a flier, on Sunday.


Sumit Sen, any other passenger, brought the problem to the attention of minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha. “Immigration machines down with loads of other people piling up in queues at Bangalore Airport. @jayantsinha please lend a hand!” Sen tweeted.


Responding to Sen’s tweet, Sinha requested Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) which operates KIA to apply it up. “The immigration server at Delhi was down intermittently leading to a extend. We have instructed our local FRRO to apply up on the similar,” BIAL tweeted on @BLRAirport, its official take care of. The FRRO stands for Foreigners Regional Registration Office.


A BIAL official mentioned: “There was a subject matter with immigration servers. It was resolved ultimate (Sunday) night time.”
