J&K High Court tells state government to appoint judicial magistrates for setting up juvenile justice boards in all districts

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Friday directed the state govt to nominate 22 judicial magistrates required for putting in of teen justice boards in all districts.


A division bench, comprising justices Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, directed the government to create 22 further posts of Judicial Magistrates (First Class) which is a demand below the Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act of 2013 and the Rules of 2014.


The bench famous that in absence of 22 juvenile justice boards to be set up below Section 4(1) of the Act, the executive judicial magistrates are exercising the powers and acting the purposes of the boards.
