KOLKATA: A person in his 30s was killed through his friend after an altercation between them whilst the duo was consuming through the railway tracks near Gobinda Khatik Road in Tangra on Sunday morning.
Cops said the two fought after the sufferer, Istikar Hossain (34), demanded the money, which the accused, Avishek Hari, owed him. As the two quarrelled, Hari took out a knife and stabbed Hossain.
Hearing him scream, locals rushed to the spot and caught Hari, who was trying to flee.
Locals later noticed the body and identified him as a local adolescence and took him to NRS Medical College and Hospital after informing the police officers. Hossain was later declared lifeless at the clinic.
Hossain's brother Iftikar lodged a complaint based on which the accused was arrested.
The incident happened lower than 48 hours after a Trinamool Congress loyalist and a local promoter, Babu Sarkar (53), was killed in huge daylight on Friday. Sarkar was hacked to demise in entrance of a policeman at a kiosk at the entry of China Town. Sarkar was attacked more than one instances for approximately 3 minutes and left to die at the street. The murder was an obvious fallout of a pitched combat between two alleged rival factions of the birthday celebration within the neighbourhood.
Probing into the case, police officers arrested some other Trinamool Congress worker, Jaydev Halder, from Chinapatty space in Tangra on Saturday evening.
