BENGALURU: A 53-year-old man fell off a cliff at Nandi Hills, about 60km from Bengaluru, when he attempted to save his spouse when she unintentionally slipped and tumbled down on Tuesday night time. He survived; his spouse’s body used to be discovered 350ft below some 21hours after the coincidence.
M Kumar, a catering contractor, and J Sunita, 50, from Hassan, had come to Bengaluru to visit their kin and decided to visit Nandi Hills on Tuesday. “We came right here by way of afternoon. Around 6.30pm, we went close to a rocky position behind Mayura Hotel and sat there,” Kumar told police.

Around 6.50pm, we decided to return. When my spouse stood up, one slipper came away. She bent forward to pick it up, however lost steadiness and slipped,” Kumar told police, including, “She screamed and began falling into the gorge. I held her arm, however lost control. I fell into an adjacent gorge and got stuck between boulders. I sustained head injuries and lost awareness.”
Around 10pm, Kumar regained awareness and returned to the hotel and told staff about the incident. They alerted police officers on the Nandi Hills outpost.
On Wednesday morning, police brought a drone digital camera from Chikkaballapura. By 4pm, they positioned the body within the shrubs close to Muneshwara temple, around 350ft below. A police officer ruled out foul play and mentioned the husband’s injuries and broken nose “are in keeping with his version”.
Kumar mentioned moonlight helped him in finding his long ago. “The boulders where I got stuck will have to be around 50ft below. On regaining awareness, I checked my watch; it used to be around 10pm. I wriggled out, searched a pathway throughout the shrubs and noticed the hotel by way of its lighting. Crawling slowly, I climbed again,” he told police.
