‘Will vote only if demand met’

Ludhiana: Residents of Bondli village and other neighbouring villages took out a protest rally on Monday and blocked the Ludhiana Chandigarh road_this used to be to press for his or her call for of development of an overbridge.

The residents say that the development of a street in the nationwide highway bypass at Samrala has doubled their problems as the villagers now have to take an extended route to succeed in their properties, the development of an overbridge would assist them to stroll lesser. The villagers had been facing problems as a result of the development and have to take long routes to shuttle to their villages.


The villagers have submit boards in their villages threatening that they would not vote in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections except their problems are solved. Some have additionally advised that they might vote for applicants who would glance into solving their problems. The residents of villages like Sihala, Toderpur, Jhar Sahib, Kakrala, and Behlolpur haveexpressed their resistance to the development of the street .


One of the participants who participated in the protest rally, Neeraj Sihala stated that the protest had at least 700 villagers from the affected villages and the protest march began from the spot where the bypass is bobbing up and the protestors marched upto Samrala after having stopped via quite a lot of market spaces and the march stopped at the major chowk. Sihala stated that they didn’t want to block the street for long as examinations of students have been happening so the protestors blocked the Ludhiana Khanna and Chandigarh street He added that the street development company, NHAI officers had come to the spot where street is bobbing up and verbally assured, however the villagers have demanded a written assurance.


Amandeep Singh, a villager stated the government are proposing to construct a crossing at the level with red mild, “We do not agree to this sort of proposal as visitors on highway may cause accidents at the spot.’’
