May Day: DMK MLAs won't accept revised salary

CHENNAI: DMK legislators is not going to obtain the revised wage of Rs 1.05 lakh per month till the Tamil Nadu executive settles the pay revision for shipping division workers, birthday celebration running president M Okay Stalin mentioned on Monday.

"I explained to the government that 89 DMK MLAs, including DMK president M Karunanidhi, are not ready to accept the revised salary. We tried to bring the suicides of farmers and the transport department employees demand for salary revision to the notice of the government. Despite my explanation, the government did not listen and hiked the salary," Stalin advised birthday celebration cadre at a May Day serve as here.


Stalin mentioned when the wage revision have been introduced in the meeting, he had advised the government that there were several pending issues and other folks were suffering. He wanted the government to postpone the revision, but it did not settle for his recommendation.


Stalin mentioned it was former chief minister C Annadurai who had introduced depart for employees on May Day and it was DMK president M Karunanidhi who introduced that May Day can be a paid vacation. Karunanidhi had also taken steps to make former Prime Minister V P Singh declare May Day as a vacation countrywide, he added.
