MCI renews permission for majority of Karnataka medical colleges

MYSURU: In a big reduction to medial seat aspirants in the state-run clinical faculties, the Medical Council of India (MCI) renewed permission for majority of the just lately started government clinical faculties, excluding Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences.
The MCI in its assembly on April 26 made up our minds to resume permission to those faculties, together with Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Madikeri and the Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Chamarajanagar. These clinical faculties may have an intake of 150 each. This manner the seat aspirants don't need to wait till the remaining date for admission to government faculties.

According to the minutes of the assembly, the MCI had beneficial the central government to resume the permission to government clinical faculties of Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Karwar, Raichuru, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, and Bidar. All these faculties may have 150 seats each. The MCI additionally approved the increase in intake of students on the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Hubballi, through 50 seats. The institute would have 200 seats now. But in the similar assembly, the council made up our minds to suggest to the central government not to renew the permission for admission of 4th batch of 150 MBBS students on the Koppal Institute of Medical Sciences.


No new faculties this 12 months

Even regardless that the state government had confident of opening up of clinical faculties in districts like Chikkamagaluru and Bagalkot from this academic 12 months, no new government faculties can be set up. No new faculties are proposed even in the personal sector.


Sachidananda, director, clinical schooling division, informed TOI that no government or personal clinical faculties are proposed on this new academic 12 months.


As expected, students are happy with the early permission for majority of the clinical faculties. “Generally, clinical counselling lasts for three-four rounds due to extend in permission-related problems. If all of the seats are included in the first seat matrix itself, we will get a clear image. There can be no confusion,” mentioned Ruchi Sagar, a clinical seat aspirant from town.
