Migrant worker killed by phone snatcher

LUDHIANA: A 21-year-old migrant labourer, Ravi Kumar Mishra, died on Tuesday morning after he was once attacked by way of a bike-borne snatcher late on Monday night time in Kanganwal of Sahnewal. The accused tried to grasp a mobile from Ravi and his brother Abhishek, who were attacked by way of sharp-edged guns when they tried to resist. Though the brothers foiled the snatching bid, they suffered accidents.


On Monday evening, Ravi and Abhishek (23) — who work in the same manufacturing unit as labourers — were returning house. When they were nearing Jaspal Bangar, two bike-borne miscreants struck at them. Abhishek narrated: “The accused tried to grasp my mobile, alternatively Ravi intervened and resisted. Ravi nearly grabbed probably the most accused, and then they started thrashing us. One of the accused then attacked Ravi on his head with a weapon he was once wearing in a single hand.” After thrashing the duo, the accused controlled to flee from there.


Abhishek took Ravi to a close-by personal medical institution, the place he was once despatched house after remedy. He added: “A few hours later, around 3.30am, Ravi’s health started deteriorating. We known as an ambulance and took him to a non-public sanatorium in Civil Lines. We reached there by way of 4am, however doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.”


Assistant commissioner of police (ACP-South) Ramandeep Singh Bhullar said: “The police have registered a case under sections 302 (homicide), 396 (dacoity with homicide), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC. The reliable added that the police received CCTV photos by which the accused were captured, and were trying to hint them.
