BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Monday sought a document from director common of police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma and police commissioner Y B Khurania regarding the alleged assault on two women by the cops of Nayapalli police station in the city on May 6.
Hearing petitions filed by four folks together with the victim sisters and rights activists, the fee on Monday handed this order. It asked the officials to record their probe stories inside per week. The next hearing will be held on May 25, fee sources mentioned.
The petitioners alleged that police officers, together with inspector-in-charge of the Nayapalli police station Sangram Keshari Patnaik, brutally assaulted the 2 sisters of Behera Sahi in Nayapalli house after dragging them out of their home. They thrashed the duo at the police station and forwarded them to an area court after registering a false case towards them, they added.
One of the petitioners, Pradipta Nayak, a rights activist, mentioned the 2 sisters had antagonistic plying of a heavy automobile on their land on May five. The factor reached police station and the Nayapalli police beat them up mercilessly. Later, the girls took to social media and showed the damage marks on their bodies, he added.
“It is barbaric and inhuman to overcome the girls by dragging them out of their home. I prayed sooner than the fee to take stringent action towards the law enforcement officials for thrashing the sisters. I also advised the fee to supply compensation to the duo,” mentioned Nayak.
YB Khurania, police commissioner, mentioned the commissionerate police have transferred the inspector-in-charge and different two officials of the Nayapalli police station following the allegation. “We are investigating the case. After getting notice from the OHRC, we can put up the probe document inside the closing date,” he added.
