Coimbatore: The affiliate professor of the dep. of control on the Anna University Coimbatore regional centre, J Venkatesh, has denied allegations levelled in opposition to him through a part-time PhD student of the university.
The PhD student, T K Kirubaharan, submitted a written petition to the manager minister on Sunday looking for to arrange an inquiry fee in opposition to Venkatesh. In his petition, Kirubaharan said the affiliate professor had demanded money for letting him complete his PhD thesis.
Kirubaharan said in 2010 he had enrolled for PhD below the affiliate professor. “Venkatesh had said he would assist me complete the venture in 3 years. But he demanded money from me pronouncing it was for doctoral committee meetings and publishing papers in journals. At the end of 3 years, when I approached him to submit my thesis, he gave contradictory knowledge and demanded extra money,” Kirubaharan said.
Kirubaharan advised TOI that after in November 2016 he had complained about this to the university, the issue was taken to the director of study, Anna University, Chennai, who changed his information. “Now, I have submitted my thesis below a distinct information and am looking forward to viva,” he said. He had faced Venkatesh on several events and demanded his money back, Kirubaharan said. Meanwhile, Venkatesh had filed a case in opposition to Kirubaharan within the Madras top court docket last 12 months.
However, when contacted, Venkatesh denied the allegations.
“The issue has been happening for a few years now. I have filed a case in opposition to the scholar within the Madras top court docket and I have submitted all the paperwork pertaining to it within the court docket,” said Venkatesh. He added that there was an interior politics in opposition to him within the university and entire issue have been created to tarnish his reputation.
R Ravi, who had also enrolled for PhD below Venkatesh in 2010, said the affiliate professor had demanded and gained around Rs2.five lakh from him pronouncing it was for doctoral committee meetings. “When he demanded for extra money, I said I couldn’t afford it and withdrew from the PhD path,” Ravi said.
The university officers, when contacted, said they'd gained the proceedings from the scholars and within the passion in their welfare, had changed the guides for the ones students. “The university is not acutely aware of the intended financial dealings between the PhD student and the affiliate professor. Also, as there is a case pending prior to the top court docket, we will have to watch for its result,” said a school legit.
