ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's foreign ministry says that no 'deal' is within the works between Islamabad and Washington for the discharge of a physician who helped the United States observe down Osama bin Laden in 2011.
Thursday's comment through the ministry's spokesman, Mohammad Faisal, got here days after Pakistani government moved Dr. Shakil Afridi from a prison within the northwestern town of Peshawar to an undisclosed location, triggering hypothesis about his imaginable unencumber.
Afridi has languished in the back of bars since 2012, when a courtroom convicted him and sentenced him to 33 years in jail over ties with militants.
He used to be never formally convicted of helping CIA in finding bin Laden, which led to the May 2011 Navy SEALs operation that killed the al-Qaida mastermind.
Washington seeks Afridi's unencumber but Islamabad insists he violated the country's laws.
