KOLKATA: To bolster security along its network, specifically at stations, Metro Railway is planning to hire workforce from personal security companies. If this occurs, Kolkata Metro would be the first railway zone within the nation to hire personal security guards.

“While all our new rakes — from ICF and Dalian — have closed-circuit TV cameras inside of coaches, a call has also been taken to check out and are compatible surveillance cameras within the 13 present air-conditioned rakes. It has already been sanctioned and we are waiting for the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) to finalise its specs.
For the time being, we are continuing as consistent with the RDSO’s draft specs and have sought budgetary quotations from home and international firms. Some corporations shall be visiting our Noapara carshed on Saturday to determine whether the CCTV cameras may also be fitted within the present AC coaches. The machine will have to be as consistent with our specs. We will require transparent photographs,” Banerjee added.
A Research Designs and Standards Organisation crew will also discuss with the Metro carshed quickly to finalise main points. Officials are hopeful that a resolution will quickly be to be had to make the rakes extra safe for passengers.
