Reds ‘welcome’ CM, blow up MP’s Bastar farmhouse

RAIPUR: Maoists blew up BJP MP Vikram Usendi’s farmhouse in Kanker district of Bastar area, barely 15 km from the spot where Chhattisgarh chief minister was preserving his ‘Vikas Yatra’ on Wednesday.

Two rooms of the farmhouse have been blown to bits by way of IEDs but no one was injured.

Earlier, Maoists had voiced their protest in opposition to Vikas Yatra, calling it ‘Vinaash Yatra’ .

According to Kanker police, a bunch of 30-40 Maoists stormed the farmhouse on Wednesday evening, beat the caretaker and drove everyone away. Then, they used IEDs to explode the farmhouse.

CM Raman Singh, who was in Antagarh for a public meeting when the farmhouse was blown up in neighbouring Barrebeda’s Bodanar village, stated Maoists “can’t stomach the improvement happening in Bastar.”
