Swachh Mangaluru volunteers clean up Kadri Park and surrounding areas

MANGALURU: The 33rd week shramadan of Ramakrishna Mission Swachhata Abhiyan used to be held within the setting of Kadri Park on Sunday. Srikumar Menon, registrar, Yenepoya (deemed to be university) and Dr Subrahmanya Shetty flagged off the abhiyan within the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji, adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math. Ramesh Rao, Masa Hiro, Nagesh K, Purushottam Pujari, NRI Vibha Prabhu, Aniruddh Nayak and others have been present.
Srikumar Menon stated, “We admire efforts of Ramakrishna Mission in converting Swachhata Abhiyan into a mass motion. Along with cleanliness drives, the Mission’s effort to create awareness amongst youths and students via quite a lot of programmes is laudable. Now UGC has also directed the universities to actively contain scholars within the cleanliness drives. This will assist forestall folks from littering and spitting anyplace and in every single place.”

All volunteers have been divided into 5 teams and works have been allocated amongst them. Drive began in front of Kadri Park. Team of volunteers wiped clean the toy teach monitor, strolling monitor and radio pavilion inside the park. Volunteers wiped clean the world & highway main from Kadri Park to Padua, others wiped clean the footpaths in front of Kadri Park. Using an earth excavating system, blocks of stone blocking the best way at the footpaths have been removed and the world levelled.


There have been sudden upward push in unlawful banners and flex hoardings. They are ruining the beauty of the city and posing downside to vehicular traffic too. Volunteers of Swachh Mangaluru divided themselves into two groups and removed all such thousands of unlawful banners from Kankanady, Jyothi, Bejai, St Agnes, Bendorewell, Pumpwell, Nanthur, Balmatta and other areas.


Abhiyan volunteers up to now had renovated bus stand in front of Mangalore East police station at Kadri that passengers use day-to-day. Volunteers wiped clean up the place along with surrounding spots. Students of Maps College with former corporator Suresh Shetty carried out awareness campaign by way of distributing awareness handbills to public in Kadri Park and stressed at the importance of cleanliness and advised native store keepers not to muddle within the space.
