Tuticorin violence: Anna varsity postpones exam

CHENNAI: As internet products and services in three southern districts were shut down in the wake of anti-Sterlite protests and police firings, Anna University has announced that all examinations scheduled on May 25, 26 and 28 of (April/May 2018 University Examinations) for all affiliated faculties of the varsity were postponed.


On its section, the state govt announced that Class 10 scholars from three districts -- Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari -- would get three more days to use for retotalling of marks.


A statement from Anna University said that the remainder tests from May 29 can be held as in keeping with the unique schedule. While the varsity's statement says the suspending of tests is due "unforeseen circumstances," the rescheduling is said to be a results of the protests against the Sterlite plant in Thoothukudi which has already ended in a lack of 13 lives all through the agitations.


The rescheduled dates of the postponed tests are given below:
Exam scheduled on May 25 shall be hung on June 5 (Tuesday). Exam scheduled on May 26 shall be hung on June 6 (Wednesday) and the check scheduled on May 28 has been postponed to June 7(Thursday).
