Tirupur: A 22-year-old lady has petition the district collector in quest of action against a contractor of Tantransco (Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation), for the demise of her husband.
In her petition to the collector Okay S Palanisamy on Monday, A Muniyammal, a hearing- and speech-impaired lady, said her husband Sivakumar, 27, of Mecheri in Salem district was working as a healthier for contractor Raja for more than five years.
The contractor would contain in becoming high-voltage transmission lines in more than a few places around the state. On July 15, 2017, Sivakumar and his workforce have been deployed to fit such transmission towers close to Vellakoil in Tirupur district.
While becoming the transmission towers, Sivakumar slipped from a tower and died at the spot.
The Vellakoil police registered a case underneath section 304 (A) of the IPC (non-motor car accident) and booked Raja and chief supervisor Srinivasan for failing to offer protection equipment to Sivakumar, and for his or her negligence.
Since there was no action taken against the contractor even after 10 months of the incident, the family, including the mum of the deceased, sought district collector Okay S Palanisamy’s intervention.
Sivakumar’s mom Bakkiyam, 43, instructed TOI: “Sivakumar, a college dropout, was the main healthier and he had excellent knowledge about the work. It was obviously the fault of the contractor, chief supervisor and engineer. They did not supply any protection gears. Moreover, segment was handed within the entrapped twine, which he attempted to transparent it, as a substitute of earth. So, it was a murder.”
“Sivakumar was the one breadwinner for his family of wife and two youngsters. He was the one that took care of my well being since I suffered cardiac ailment. But now it had all changed. We want not anything but justice for my son’s demise.”
Sivakumar’s uncle P Arumugam said, “The contractor promised us to offer reimbursement of Rs four lakh but gave most effective part of the quantity. We did not know what action was taken against him for negligence via the police.”
State vice-president of Central Organization Electrical Workers Trade Union Gopalakrishnan said, “Many such accidents occur but they are going to now not come into books ceaselessly because the contractors would use their influences. In this situation, the contractor was booked for failing to offer protection gears to the deceased. The government must straight away take action against the accused and provide reimbursement.”
