Zakir Hussain Street residents protest poor quality road work

Coimbatore: Residents of Zakir Hussain Street at Okay Okay Nagar near Saibaba Kovil on Wednesday staged a protest after the civic frame endured to put roads, regardless of heavy rain.

On the 3rd Zakir Hussain Street, roads had been dug up to lay new ones. And the paintings on laying the brand new street has been going on for per week now. When it rained heavily 3 days in the past, the employees didn’t forestall the paintings and endured to unload fabrics and lay the street.


“We requested them to put the street after the rain. We advised them that the tar received’t stick properly and there was no level in laying the sort of street. But the employees threatened us and advised us that they are going to continue to put the street,” mentioned A J Hussain, a neighborhood resident and district secretary of SDPI.


On May 1, he mentioned, the residents petitioned the company assistant engineer, Angeline of ward 10, the place the street is located and requested her to make sure the street is of fine high quality.


As there was no action, the residents on Wednesday took to the roads. “Police officials and company officials reached the spot and held talks with us. They advised us that they are going to make sure that the street paintings is performed as in line with the norms and the quality is maintained,” Hussain mentioned.
