GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam persevered to deteriorate with 5 more other folks dropping their lives right through the past 24 hours, while four.five lakh other folks have been affected in the deluge throughout six districts.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 5 persons lost their lives in flood-related incidents in 3 districts right through the final 24 hours.
With this, the dying toll has climbed to 12 in the first wave of flood in Assam this 12 months.
While two persons died at Udharbond and one in Sadar income circles in Cachar district, one every lost their lives at Hailakandi and Sadar income circles in Hailakandi and Karimganj districts respectively, it added.
The ASDMA said over four.48 lakh other folks have been affected in Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Golaghat, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Cachar districts.
Till the day before today, four.25 lakh other folks were affected throughout seven districts in Assam.
According to the report issued these days, Karimganj has been the worst-hit with just about 2.15 lakh other folks affected followed by way of Hailakandi where over 1.93 lakh other folks have been suffering in the deluge.
Currently, 673 villages are under water and 1,512 hectares of crop areas have been broken, the ASDMA said.
It said authorities are operating 481 reduction camps and distribution centres in 5 districts, where 1,73,245 other folks have taken shelter at this time.
Over 6,150 persons have been evacuated to more secure puts right through the final 24 hours by way of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) staff from Karimganj, Hailakandi and Cachar.
The flood has broken embankments, roads, bridges and different infrastructures in Hojai, Karimganj, Dima Hasao and Cachar districts.
As of now, Brahmaputra at Nimatighat in Jorhat, while Barak at AP Ghat in Cachar and Badarpurghat in Karimganj are flowing above the risk mark.
Other rivers like Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat, Jia Bharali at NT Road crossing in Sonitpur, Kopili at Kampur in Nagaon, Katakhal at Matizuri in Hailakandi and Kushiyara at Karimganj the town also are flowing above the risk mark.
