A hockey hall of fame in Rourkela's smart city plans

ROURKELA: The Rourkela Smart City Ltd (RSCL), in its seventh board meeting on Tuesday, discussed the wish to arrange a hockey hall of fame, making an allowance for the game's wealthy legacy in Sundargarh district.

"The hockey hall of fame can be constructed at the Birsa Munda stadium, Rourkela, where the life stories of international and national hockey players can be showcased," development commissioner and RSCL chairman R Balakrishnan mentioned. "The status of Indian hockey from the pre-independence era to present days can also be displayed in this hall of fame, which would be a major attraction for locals as well as tourists," he added. In the meeting the status of the impending initiatives have been additionally reviewed. RSCL chief executive officer Rashmita Panda briefed the members about the status of more than a few initiatives. "Tenders of six citizen-friendly parks, taken up by RSCL, have already been floated, while tenders of other projects like the development of Birsa Munda stadium, multi-level car parking, smart road and rooftop solar project will be floated soon," Panda mentioned.

"Besides, tender documents for other projects like construction of an auditorium, convention centre, Brahamani river front development, underground power distribution system, smart bus terminal and Panposh market redevelopment are under process," she added.
