Police reward man for thwarting bid to abduct girl

Tirupur: The district rural police rewarded a man on Wednesday for informing police about the conceivable abduction of a Class V girl at Kangeyam bus stand. The Kangeyam police stopped the kidnapping and remanded the accused in judicial custody.

According to the police, Jitender Sani of Bihar was trying to entice the girl by way of giving her biscuits when she was waiting for a bus at Kangeyam bus stand on Tuesday evening. Noticing this, P Murugesan, a cobbler, knowledgeable about his activities to the police.


When the police arrived to the spot, they noticed Jitender walking away with the girl. They detained him, who was in an drunk state. “It was no longer known whether there was any purpose in the back of the act, however he was trying to abduct the girl,” the police said.


On Wednesday, district superintendent of police A Kayilvizhi gave a cash reward to Murugesan at her chamber in appreciation for his social work.
