GUWAHATI: Police on Thursday initiated a suo-moto case in opposition to a group of people who, in an obvious act of ethical policing, pulled down a tender couple from their motorcycle and thrashed them in public in Assam's Goalpara district.
The incident took place on June 17. The video of the incident that took place on June 17, appearing a group of other folks caning the couple, each in their twenties, went viral on social media on Thursday morning. "Soon after, a member of the Kherupara defence committee, Qurban Ali, was arrested. We're looking for three others involved in the assault. We can't make their names public until we catch them," a senior police officer stated.
