Bank alarm goes off after burglar touches it during loot bid

COIMBATORE: An unidentified guy attempted to burgle State Bank of India's branch at Kembanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said when the burglar touched the locker of the financial institution round 2am, the burglar alarm went off and the locals rushed to the spot. The burglar managed to flee from the financial institution.


The guy broke open the two locks of the shutter and entered the financial institution. He broke open the financial institution manager's room, cashier room and the locker room with an iron rod.

When he touched the locker, the burglar alarm went off and it rang for more than ten minutes.

On being alerted by locals, the Annur police reached the spot.

The police checked the CCTV cameras in the financial institution. One of the CCTV cameras mounted on the entrance of the financial institution recorded the suspect's symbol.


Three CCTV cameras within the financial institution were not working.


The police said there had been energy lower in the house since Friday evening. However, the burglar alarm and the CCTV cameras had been hooked up to the U.S.for uniterrupted energy supply.


They found the iron rod in the locker room. Finger print mavens also reached the spot.


Further investigations had been on.
