GUWAHATI: The southwest monsoon struck the northeast on Friday, protecting portions of Manipur and Mizoram.
Following the arrival of the monsoon within the northeastern area within the first week of June as anticipated, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted standard rainfall in different NE states within the next couple of days.
"The southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of the northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Mizoram and Manipur. Conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of NE region in the next 48 hours," stated Sanjay O'Neill Shaw, deputy director normal of meteorology on the IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre based in Guwahati.
A supply within the IMD stated, "Even after the arrival of monsoon, there is little chance of heavy rain in the NE states in the next couple of days," stated a supply within the IMD. According to the Met place of job, standard rainfall is expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Saturday and Sunday. Assam and Meghalaya are likely to revel in rather standard rainfall within the next two days.
"Moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers is very likely to occur at most places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and at many places over Assam and Meghalaya in the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh during the same period," stated a Met official. IMD knowledge point out that light to moderate rain took place at maximum places over Tripura and at a couple of places over Assam within the last 24 hours.
