BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: The BJP on Monday staged demonstrations in the districts and subdivisions to protest against the state executive's 'lackadaisical perspective' towards finding the missing keys of the Jagannath Temple's Ratna Bhandar.
Party staff led by local BJP leaders submitted a memorandum to governor Ganeshi Lal during the collectors and the sub-collectors, and lit earthen lamps in 'deepdan' ceremonies at Jagannath temples throughout Odisha. From Tuesday, BJP will stage demonstrations in front of police stations and hotel FIRs against chief minister Naveen Patnaik for 'now not doing enough' to protect the keys.
In Cuttack, BJP spokesperson Pitambar Acharya lashed out on the state executive for allegedly illegally transferring embellishes from the Ratna Bhandar to an SBI locker. He mentioned the transfer showed that the Ratna Bhandar's protection were compromised. "Rule 7 of the Shree Jagannath Temple Rules, 1960, says gold, silver and ornaments received as gifts will be kept inside the Ratna Bhandar. How can they be kept in a locker?" he mentioned. Acharya added that the Supreme Court's order to probe mismanagement on the temple had uncovered the inefficiency of the state executive.
BJD spokesperson Prashanta Nanda brushed aside the charges and mentioned BJP was once raking up the emotive factor to divert other folks's attention from the Mahanadi dispute.
