Father kills son over land dispute

Salem: A 60-year-old man killed his son over a land dispute on Sunday night at Keelchinnakoundampatty near Tharamangalam in Salem district.

According to the Tharamangalam police, Ponnusamy, a farmer, owns 80 cents of land within the village. His third son P Ponnumani, 28, who works in an audio speaker renting shop, needs his proportion to be given to him. But Ponnusamy refused to do so.


“On Sunday night, inebriated Ponnumani used to be arguing with his father and at one stage, attacked him. Suddenly, Ponnusamy took a spade and hacked his son’s head. The son suffered serious head accidents and died at the spot,” mentioned a police officer


After an alert, the police reached the spot and detained the father. He later confessed to his crime and according to this, the police arrested him. They additionally seized the spade. A case used to be registered. The accused used to be lodged at Salem central jail underneath judicial custody.
