CM to flag off first 6-coach metro train on Fri

BENGALURU: Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy will flag off the much-awaited six-coach metro train on Friday.

BMRCL officers on Wednesday said Kumaraswamy will flag off the first six trainer metro train from Baiyappanahalli station at five:30pm in the presence of deputy leader minister G Parameshwar and Union minister of housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri.

The leader minister together with dignitaries may be expected in travel in the six-coach train until Kempegowda Majestic metro station.


Metro’s east-west hall (Purple Line between Byappanahalli and Mysuru Road) will get the first six-coach train, and its first compartment will probably be reserved for women passengers.


Six-coach-train has been the long pending call for of commuters as metro trains are running packed in the existing three-coach trains especially all through peak hours. The doubling of coaches may be expected to increase the passenger site visitors.


BMRCL hopes to have its entire fleet transformed to six-coach trains through June 2019.


Last Sunday also marked one year final touch of Namma Metro’s Phase 1 and the service has clocked over 12 crore ridership in a 12 months.
