LUDHIANA: The anti-narcotics group of Ludhiana police have allegedly been attacked by a circle of relatives of Maya Nagar in Haibowal on Monday night, when the group conducted a raid following a tip-off a few man, Sunny Arora (24), indulging in drug smuggling. When the police conducted a raid at his space to arrest him, the man and his relations opened an assault at the group with sticks. However, the group controlled to flee from there and later lodged a police criticism.
On receiving the criticism, the Haibowal police have registered a case against Sunny, the primary accused, and his relations Inderjit Singh, Banka, and Dharminder, below sections 353, 186, 332, 148, and 149 of the IPC. The complainant, head constable Anil Jaura, said: “When a police group of 3 contributors raided the house, the accused thrashed the group and attempted to stay them hostage. However, the group controlled to flee from there.”
The investigating officer from Haibowal police station, ASI Chanan Singh, said the police group in an instant reached the spot, and arrested two of the accused — Sunny, and his brother-in-law Inderjit (35). The ASI further added that Sunny had been facing trials in 4 instances of snatchings. On the opposite hand, the relatives of the arrested accused have alleged that the police had been framing them on incorrect fees. They alleged that on Monday, a suspended head constable conducted the raid and took Rs1.60 lakh from their space.
Preety, sister of the accused Sunny, met police commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill on Tuesday, with a criticism challenging an inquiry. She alleged that on Saturday, suspended head constable Balwinder Singh, along side some unidentified individuals barged into their space claiming to be from the anti-narcotics wing. They said Sunny was once a smuggler and took him, along side cash of Rs1.6 lakh, from their space.
She further accused that Balwinder had demanded Rs1.35 lakh to liberate Sunny, for which they'd already given Rs35,000 to him. “However, we failed to provide Rs1 lakh more to Balwinder, so Balwinder — with the assistance of different cops — framed my brother within the case,” alleged Preety. Police leader Gill said he would mark an inquiry after checking the subject.
