DIGHA: The craze for a selfie snatched the lifetime of a 56-year-old railway worker at Digha on Wednesday morning when he stepped over the ocean guard wall to pose on the boulders and were given swept into the ocean by means of an enormous wave.
Chandan Mukherjee’s circle of relatives watched in horror as a sudden wave crashed into the guard wall of the Biswa Bangla Udyan seaside in Old Digha and pulled him into the gurgling waters. Two hours later, Mukherjee’s blood-stained frame surfaced near Sea Hawk Hotel, 500 metres away, as the waves receded.
