Eid celebrated across twin cities with pomp

HUBBALLI: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with pomp and gaiety within the dual cities on Saturday. The pageant was marked via mass prayers, sermons and charity.
A lot of people participated in mass prayers on the two Idgah Maidans. The stretch of Lamington Road was teeming with Muslims who had come to offer 'namaz' on the Idgah Maidan, adjacent to the Kittur Chennamma Circle.

Moulana Zahiruddin Kazi conducted the namaz and delivered the qutba (Islamic sermons) on the Idgah Maidan, while Moulana Quaza Hoyes conducted the namaz at Old Hubballi.

Former minister A M Hindasgeri and Anjuman-e-Islam former president Mohammad Yusuf Savanur Wahab Mulla, Altaf Hallur and different members of Anjumane Islam were a number of the prominent Muslim leaders who participated within the mass prayers.

People from other faiths too took phase within the celebrations. Religious scholars gave sermons and steered the group to advertise brotherhood and compassion and strive to foster social and communal team spirit.

Charity being some other particular characteristic of this pageant, group outfits organised programmes and allotted food to the deficient at many puts in Hubballi.

Muslim families invited neighbours, buddies and family for lunch and presented them sheer khurma.

People set out from their properties in their best clothes and presented prayers organized via Anjuman-E-Islam at Idgah Maidan near Central Jail and close by mosques. The local clerics determined to have a good time Ramzan on Saturday because the moon was sighted on Friday night time.

Anjuman-e-Islam president Ismail Tamatgar, who spoke on the mass prayer, defined the advance works taken up via Anjuman. He stated a women hostel for students learning in Anjuman Degree College shall be built at Rasulpur Galli and the development of a wall around the burial ground in Hosayallapur was nearing completion. He stated Anjuman was taking steps to give a boost to instructional requirements in its institutions but even so providing state of the art infrastructure.


Tamatgar later hosted a lunch to invitees at his residence in Sadhanakeri.


Since buyers belonging to the group were celebrating the pageant, wholesale industry of greens was closed on Saturday. However, Muslim buyers and vendors were again to trade soon after morning prayers and the marketplace was bristling with actions via late afternoon.


Police had made elaborate safety preparations to make sure non violent party of the pageant.
