Ex-CEO missing, address of other accused found fake

GREATER NOIDA: A day after a former CEO of Yamuna Authority, P C Gupta, was booked along with 20 others for cheating and forgery in a 126-crore land scam, the police raided the flats of the principle accused on Monday, however without any success.
While the police discovered that Gupta had left his posh residence in Jaypee Greens on Saturday morning itself, his associate and former tehsildar Suresh Chandra Sharma was discovered missing from his Patparganj rental in Delhi. The addresses of the other accused, except Gupta and Suresh Chandra, have been discovered to be faux.

The accused have been booked for allegedly acquiring 57.15 hectares of land at an inflated price from kinfolk and acquaintances though the land in truth had no utility.

The FIR states that Gupta knowledgeable his kinfolk and acquaintances about the acquisition in advance, and the latter purchased the land from farmers. The Yamuna Authority then got the land from them at double the prices without any deliberations in 2013-14.

The accused had purchased the land from farmers just two to 4 months again prior to it was in the end got via the YEIDA.

Gupta became the CEO of the Yamuna Authority in April 2013, and shifted as district Justice of the Peace of Mainpuri in July 2016.

The FIR was lodged greater than a month after the probe file of current CEO, Arunvir Singh, was submitted to the chairman of YEIDA on May 7. The file printed that the scam amounted to Rs 126.42 crore within the current fee.

Another probe file, which was undertaken via normal manager (making plans), YEIDA, Meena Bhargava, was submitted on December 8, 2017.

According to police, Gupta, who has retired from provider, have been staying together with his circle of relatives in Tower 6 of Star Court flats in Jaypee Greens.

Amit Shrivastava, circle officer, Greater Noida I, told TOI that the entire phone numbers of Gupta and the other accused remained switched off. “We have started questioning the witnesses who signed the felony paperwork of the different land purchases as lots of them are common,” mentioned Ajay Pal Sharma, SSP.


Sources mentioned that the Greater Noida police might also request the ministry of home affairs (MHA) to factor a glance out circular towards Gupta and different accused in case they are trying to leave the rustic.


Kasna police had lodged an FIR towards Gupta, Sharma and 19 different accused together with Gupta’s relative Swadesh Gupta on Sunday on a grievance of YEIDA inspector Gajendra Singh.


The case was filed beneath sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of precious security, will, and many others), 468 (forgery for goal of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged file, report, and many others), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and Section 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
