Gujarat: Strong winds push monsoon past June 17

AHMEDABAD: As mud storms had been witnessed in some parts of town on Thursday, the Met department officials said strong winds will proceed for a few more days.

Regional director, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jayanta Sakar said strong winds would proceed for a few more days over the area. “We have also warned the coastal spaces of uneven sea due to wind,” he said.

He added that while parts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra may enjoy sporadic showers within the weekend, majority of the area may receive first spell within the subsequent week.

The temperatures dropped across the state with only Bhavnagar (40.eight degrees Celsius), Ahmedabad (40.6) and Vallabh Vidyanagar (40.3) recording mercury northward of 40 degrees on Thursday. Humidity went up in some parts of the area, especially in south Gujarat. Minimum and most temperatures recorded one level upper than the decadal reasonable, the IMD web page said.
