Housing board to levy cess for metro funds

GHAZIABAD: The UP housing and construction board is making plans to impose a cess on someone buying a flat or plot in its areas in Ghaziabad to raise finances for the 3rd segment of a metro challenge.


A proposal has been mooted by way of the board after a letter from the UP chief secretary directed stakeholders to carve out their “areas of affect” and gave them to liberty to impose a cess to raise finances. The 3rd segment envisages extension of 2 metro corridors — Vaishali to Mohan Nagar and Sector 62 (Electronics City Noida) to Sahibabad.


Sources within the board stated a panel have been formed to formulate the proposal. “It received’t be feasible to reveal the rest about our funding proposal, by any means, at this point of time. Several models are being thought to be,” housing board commissioner Dheeraj Sahu stated. The general price of the projecthas been pegged at Rs three,711 crore.


“It isn't a feasible concept to impose cess on residents for increasing the metro network in Ghaziabad. The metro network used to be spread all across Delhi without imposing any roughly cess on the general public,” stated Rajeev Kumar, a Vasundhara resident.
