K'taka: Govt hikes employees' pay, with riders

BENGALURU: After five years, the Karnataka govt employees were given 30% pay hike just lately and now the inside track: it is a blended bag for them.

The govt is contemplating to restrict the working days in a week to five, with increasing the working hours and lower down some “Jayanti” (Birth anniversary)-related vacations.

While the corporates are following the five-day week gadget, the govt is working on the identical to carry creativity and build up the performance of its workers.


CM HD Kumaraswamy has asked the executive secretary and division of staff and administrative reforms to seem into the professionals and cons of this scheme and give a document in this regard.


Two days of weekends comes with some prerequisites. “Jayanti” vacations will be cancelled, if any community needs to have fun, they may be able to avail it as limited vacation. Daily working hours will be greater via 1 to one.five hours. The CM is exploring the felony choices along side the document, ministry resources stated.


Currently, 2d Saturday is vacation whilst the fourth Saturday leave has been proposed within the sixth Pay fee headed via retired IAS officer M.R.Srinivasmurthy. Taking another, two Saturdays as vacations is not going to have an effect on much. To compensate this, “Jayanti” vacations will be cancelled and dealing hours will be greater. Holiday of 2 days in a week will save electricity, fuel and other day-to-day bills too. This may help in austerity force, stated the resources.
