KOLKATA: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee made a pitch for a transformation in marking via the state board whilst felicitating the rank holders of all boards, including WBJEE toppers at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday.
“Time has changed and so has the mode of finding out. Students under ICSE and CBSE boards are getting excellent marks. Why must scholars finding out under the state board get less? In our instances, scholars used to get 80 to 85 out of 100. Now they are getting 100 out of 100. We must see to it that students of the state board get excellent marks,” the CM mentioned pointing to the spurt in competition.
Mamata congratulated the rank holders and recommended them to stay back in Bengal. “Some of you're going to be medical doctors, some engineers, some scientists whilst some might pursue social sciences and literature. Granthan (the first boy in HS) has showed us how a student from the humanities stream can get 100 out of 100,” the CM mentioned.
She then advised the students how her executive is beefing up infrastructure within the education sector.
“My executive is taking measures to extend scientific seats. This aside, the government has arrange new universities taking the tally to 28. Another 14 new colleges have been arrange,” Mamata mentioned. The CM additionally felicitated the scholar who's the first to take the board examination in Alchiki script.
