Man protests fees under RTE Act admission

TIRUPUR: A social activist, together with his five-year-old son, staged a protest in entrance of a private faculty in the town on Tuesday alleging that the college control had demanded fees for books and training in different extra-curricular actions while his son used to be admitted underneath the Right to Education (RTE) Act. A faculty official, alternatively, denied the fees.


“I put my son in LKG and UKG in a private faculty on Angeripalayam Road underneath 25% unfastened education quota underneath the RTE Act. This 12 months, he used to be promoted to Class I. When I went to drop my son to the college on Tuesday, its control restricted my son’s access and requested me to pay 20,000 against the bills of books and extra-curricular actions coaching supplied prior to now two years,” said A Palani Kumar.


“Under RTE unfastened education, scholars don't need to pay the rest, but they should be supplied quality education on par with that of the self-finance scholars,” he said.


A faculty official said they hadn’t requested Palani Kumar to pay any price for the coaching supplied prior to now two years and that he used to be creating downside through instigating folks of alternative scholars to rise up against the college control. “Hence, we demanded fees past RTE unfastened education tariff, underneath which only tuition price is exempted.”


When contacted, district chief instructional officer S Shanthi said as in step with the RTE Act, government would reimburse only the tuition fees. “Other fees should be paid through the fogeys. The faculty control didn't violate the principles in this case,” the officer said.
