Krishnagiri: State sports minister P Balakrishna Reddy inaugurated the 26th All India Mango Exhibition at a government boys higher secondary college here on Monday.
Speaking on the inaugural serve as, the minister said mango cultivation is the main farming process in the area, including Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts.
“Farmers on this area depend on mango cultivation for his or her financial building,” he said. He said the purpose of organizing the mango exhibition annually is to popularize more than a few sorts of mangoes and other crops to farmers.
More than 50 sorts of mangoes including alphonso, senthura, neelam, malcova, Imam Pasant were displayed at more than 100 stalls on the exhibition. Thousands of tourists thronged the exhibition centre.
Mango farmers and pulp manufacturers from many states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra displayed their produce in the exhibition.
Every time we would give an opportunity to the mango orchard owners to meet potential buyers during exhibition. “This 12 months too we now have organized for a gathering in the upcoming days,” Krishnagiri collector Kathiravan said. The exhibition will finish on July 8.
Earlier, the minister issued more than a few welfare scheme materials price Rs 56.22 lakh to 348 beneficiaries.
About 50 executive departments including the public works division, woodland division, Hindu spiritual and charitable endowment division set up stalls while non-public corporations and their distributers set up 80 stalls in the exhibition. The district administration displayed floral presentations including cartoon characters akin to Motu, Putlu and Taj Mahal. Collector Kathiravan said that they've used 14 fragrant material to make a miniature Taj Mahal with roses weighing 500kg. Mango consuming, and quiz competitions shall be organized for guests on Monday.
