MADURAI: Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, has determined to waive the fees of round Rs 12,000 for MA Tamil literature for the educational 12 months 2018-2019 as a part of efforts to inspire extra scholars to take in the path.
Vice-chancellor Dr K Baskar advised TOI that the number of the scholars taking over MA Tamil literature have been dwindling. In the 2016-2017 academic 12 months, that they had simply 3 scholars whilst remaining 12 months too it used to be a unmarried digit. This 12 months the college won ten applications although the path has a total capacity of 30 seats.
He said that the 25-year-old Tamil division of the college used to be a well-established one with probably the most best lecturers. “The Tamil Nadu government is taking many steps to promote Tamil language and tradition studies, however the fact that fewer number of scholars is coming ahead to take in this path is discouraging. So, we determined to waive the path fees for the scholars joining this 12 months,” he said.
The receive advantages will also be availed of through scholars coming for the common batch on the college and the associated fee including tuition fee to the music of Rs 12,000 would be waived for the entire scholars who join the path.
“The Tamil division of the college is without doubt one of the best, so it must now not be in peril of being closed for loss of scholars. So we determined to make this be offering and hope many extra will come ahead to join the path,” he said.
However, this would practice for only MA Tamil literature whilst scholars of BA Tamil literature and distance schooling would have to pay their common fees, he added.
