Mentally-challenged twins smothered to death by uncle in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A double homicide sent shockwaves in the town when 12-year-old mentally challenged twins — a boy and a lady — were smothered to loss of life via their maternal uncle at his place of dwelling in Satyanarayanapuram, Chaitanyapuri on Friday night time. The accused reportedly claimed he killed them to supply succour to his sister and brother-in-law, who were in trauma on account of their well being condition. Two persons, together with their uncle, were arrested.

Chaitanyapuri police mentioned the sufferers —Vishnuvardhan Reddy and his dual Srujana Reddy — till just lately were at an institute, which specialises in giving care and remedy to mentally-challenged persons. Since it was once summer vacation, Vishnuvardhan and Srujana were taken to their place of dwelling in Miryalguda in Nalgonda district two months in the past.

On Friday morning, the two children were picked up via their maternal uncle Mallikarjun Reddy, an unemployed chemist, from their Miryalguda place of dwelling and took them to his rented lodging at Chaitanyapuri. He smothered them to loss of life with a pillow at his first-floor portion. Later, he known as his pal Vivek to bring his car to his place of dwelling.

House proprietor alerted neighbours & police


Around 11.30pm, Mallikarjun with the help of Vivek brought Srujana’s body down the stairs and put it in the boot of the car. When Vishnuvardhan’s body was once being brought down, house proprietor Mahesh Reddy noticed it. “The house proprietor noticed them transferring the body and wondered Mallikarjun, who didn't give convincing solutions, and found it suspicious. The house proprietor alerted other neighbours, who didn't permit Mallikarjun to depart the place and so they alerted police,” assistant commissioner of police (LB Nagar) K Pruthvidhar Rao mentioned.


After committing the offence, Mallikarjun informed his sister and brother-in-law concerning the development. Mallikarjun confessed that he killed the twins as his sister Lakshmi had slipped into despair and brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy was once in trauma on account of the twins’ well being condition, ACP added.


Earlier, Mallikarjun had deliberate to enact a drama that the two children drank Harpic, a bathroom cleaner, mistaking it for a cushy drink as they were mentally-challenged, but abandoned it for unknown reasons. Police have registered a case below Section 302 (homicide) of the IPC and arrested Mallikarjun and Vivek. They were also analysing name information information of Mallikarjun and the twins’ oldsters to establish whether or not the latter were also a part of the homicide conspiracy.
