Metro corridors to crisscross Hyd for airport link

HYDERABAD: While Phase I of the Hyderabad Metro rail venture is predicted to be completed by way of subsequent March barring the previous city stretch, the Telangana executive has known the corridors that would be taken up below Phase II of the rail venture. Though the exact period of Phase II has not but been finalized, officers mentioned the focus could be on giving connectivity to airport from all corners of the city.

“Airport connectivity from Raidurg ((Biodiversity Park) to Shamshabad and Falaknuma to airport could be given most sensible precedence in Phase II. The basic distinction between Phase I of Metro and Phase II is while the three corridors below Phase I were taken up below the general public non-public partnership (PPP) mode, Phase II will likely be taken up solely by way of the state executive,” leader secretary Shailendra Kumar Joshi instructed TOI on Monday.

The leader secretary mentioned the state executive would also complete the rail provider from MGBS to Falaknuma, which is a part of Phase I, as early as possible. “The floor paintings is being accomplished for the Old City corridor,” Joshi mentioned.

Metro Phase II: Preliminary document sought to cut time, mobilise price range

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was once entrusted to provide a detailed venture document (DPR) for Phase II a couple of months ago. Since preparation of DPR is a time-consuming exercise, the municipal management department has sought a preliminary venture document (PPR) to begin the process of mobilizing price range for Phase II. Sources mentioned the PPR has been submitted by way of the DMRC to the state executive.

Municipal management department resources mentioned the preliminary document of DMRC has suggested a 30 km corridor from the Biodiversity Park to Shamshabad, 26 km from BHEL to Lakdikapul and 5 kms stretch from Nagole to L B Nagar. Since MGBS to Falaknuma stretch were given not on time due to alignment issues, it is expected to be in a position inside of 12 months from the time works begin. The connectivity from Falaknuma to Shamshabad will likely be taken up within the later levels of Phase II.

The tentative cost of the Phase II could be around ?10,000 crore and the state executive has already initiated talks with some financial institutions for borrowings including Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Of the whole cost of the venture, 60 in keeping with cent of the price range could be mobilized from the funding companies.

The state executive is interested in taking over Phase II as it would decongest vehicular traffic in the entire space to a perfect extent. While the LB Nagar to Ameerpet stretch could be opened for public in August this 12 months, the other stretch that connects the IT corridor from Ameerpet to Hi-Tec City could be in a position by way of October this 12 months. The stretch between JBS to MGBS (as a part of Corridor II) could be completed and thrown open for the general public by way of March 2019.
