LUDHIANA: Once once more, the non-medical movement has been the favorite for college students in search of admission in Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students in Ludhiana. The counselling process began in the city on 4 June, and all 300 seats for non-medical were crammed up in the first two days. The ultimate students have either changed their movement, or switched to different towns like Mohali and Jalandhar.
"The whole counselling process is online and live. Applicants can choose any city of their choice sitting at home. Even if seats for non-medical in Ludhiana are occupied, one can choose any other city. On the very first day, 99 students were admitted, out of whom, 71 opted for the non-medical stream," mentioned district MIS co-ordinator Vishal Kumar.
Pawanpreet Kaur, an applicant wishing to get admission in the non-medical movement, mentioned: "I wanted admission in non-medical, however all seats have been occupied. Since I don't want to go to another city, I'm taking admission here in the commerce stream." Harshdeep Singh, another applicant who wanted admission in non-medical, mentioned he used to be moving to Mohali, as he did not get admission in his own city.
A complete of 86 girls were given admission on the second day, out of which 46 decided on non-medical, 19 clinical, and the rest 21 had no possibility however to choose the commerce movement. Counselling for 49 boys used to be completed on the second day, out of whom 24 went in for non-medical, 9 for clinical, and 16 for commerce. By Friday afternoon, all seats for non-medical were grabbed in the city branch. After that, students who needed to study non-medical chose the Mohali branch. On Saturday, all seats for boys in Ludhiana were crammed. For girls, best 27 seats are left, out of which 8 are of non-medical, and 19 are for commerce movement.
