Now, Telugu mandatory for ICSE, CBSE class 1 & 6 pupils

HYDERABAD: Now , Telugu is compulsory for college kids of class I and VI in even faculties affiliated to ICSE, CBSE, IB and Cambridge boards from this educational yr. Though the Telangana govt’s purpose could also be to advertise Telugu, it could create problems for non-Telugu scholars.

According to a government order (GO) made public by means of the varsity schooling department on Sunday, faculties affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and IB would have to verify scholars admitted in those two classes get started learning Telugu as an extra language.

The GO (Ms No 15), outlining the Telangana (Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Telugu in Schools) Act, 2018 and the Telangana (Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Telugu in Schools) Rules, 2018, says the language presented for class 1 and sophistication 6 scholars can be gradually extended for additional classes.

As in keeping with the GO, the Telangana State Council of Educational Research and Training would increase Telugu language textbooks in English medium (instead of state syllabus) and ‘different’ medium number one/ upper number one faculties, the place Telugu is to be newly presented from this educational yr. “All faculties under all managements (ICSE/CBSE/IB/Cambridge etc.) in the state shall use govt prescribed Telugu textbooks handiest, for classes 1 to 10,” the GO mentioned.

In a big aid to non-Telugu families migrating from different states to Telangana, the government has exempted learning of Telugu for college kids taking admission in school eight and above.

Schools no longer following rule to be fined

The GO said.,“For example, if a student comes from every other state, for admission into class eight in a college in Telangana, it can be seen from his/her development record of class 7, that he/she has no longer studied Telugu up to class 7. In that case, he/she can be exempted from the compulsory learn about of Telugu from class eight onwards till class 10 (SSC) if the student applies.” Schools which fail to enforce Telugu as a mandatory topic can be penalized as in keeping with the Act.

“If a non-public faculty (aided or unaided irrespective of syllabi i.e., state syllabus/CBSE/ICSE/IB etc.) does no longer enforce compulsory instructing of Telugu for any or all classes from classes 1 to 10, the control will probably be given notice to give an explanation for the reasons in the first position by means of the competent authority, to be answered within 15 days from the date of receipt of the notice,” states the GO, additional adding that when the required period, if the violation isn't rectified, penalty of Rs 50,000 can be imposed for the primary time and Rs 1 lakh for the second time.
