COIMBATORE: A Tamil circle of relatives of five, residing and settled in Atlanta in the United States, participated in cleaning Vellalore and Ukkadam lakes in Coimbatore district on Sunday.
The family members helped environmentalists plant saplings and take away water hyacinths. They gave investment to buy 1,500 saplings to be planted around the water bodies.
The circle of relatives comprising two kids, two men and a lady conducts a food competition in Atlanta on the World Earth Day (on April 22) every year to lift price range to improve surroundings coverage initiatives in Tamil Nadu, mentioned Coimbatore-based environmentalist R Manikandan.
The NRIs, who've been in Tamil Nadu for the closing one week, are on a challenge to participate in eco-friendly and surroundings coverage activities within the state.
The circle of relatives come to India every year to participate in an atmosphere venture every year.
“One of our contacts who was in contact with the circle of relatives had instructed them that we want financial and physical improve in planting saplings and taking away water hyacinths from the water bodies. So the circle of relatives gave us investment to acquire 1,500 saplings,” he added.
