Oil wholesaler using misleading label in TN

COIMBATORE: An oil wholesaler and distributor in Annur here was discovered labelling his product in a “deceptive” manner. He was discovered the usage of a well-liked logo title through including a prefix to it in a small font and the brand’s colour mixture, said food protection officials.
More than 25,000 litres of oil, value around Rs 25 lakh, was seized from the godown on Thursday night time.

Based on a tip off from food protection officials in Tirupur, who stuck a car transporting oil tins, which sported labels studying “Gold” sunflower delicate oil as its logo title, the officials discovered the deal with and performed a raid.

The officials seized the entire tins with labels stuck on them. They seized 25,200 litres total. The owner was allegedly buying oil from suppliers in Chennai and Kangeyam and simply labelling it and selling it in Coimbatore.
