SKorea says US drills suspended to aid talks with North

SEOUL: South Korea says a joint army workout scheduled with the U.S. has been suspended to beef up ongoing talks both international locations have with North Korea.


Defense Ministry spokeswoman Choi Hyun-soo said Tuesday that her executive believes the verdict will lend a hand maintain momentum within the talks.


She spoke after the United States and South Korea announced that the Ulchi Freedom Guardian drills slated for August were called off.


The announcement was broadly expected following President Donald Trump's assembly with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un closing week.


Trump said after the summit that he would droop the United States army's ``struggle games'' with South Korea except the talks on ending North Korea's nuclear guns program destroy down. His statement gave the impression to catch both South Korea and the Pentagon through wonder.
