Sprinkling, reduced construction bring down dust pollution levels

Noida/Ghaziabad: Sustained sprinkling of water and decreased construction activity brought down air pollution throughout Noida and Ghaziabad over the past 24 hours, with PM10 ranges noticing a sharp dip in the twin towns.

Officials at the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), alternatively, said it will take a couple of more days for the location to return to normalcy and dust ranges in the air to relax. Around 6pm, the PM10 stage in Greater Noida was once recorded at 322; 369 in Noida Sector 125, and 380 in Noida Sector 62. The PM10 stage in Ghaziabad was once recorded at 470.

While the administration has directed that every one construction activity in Noida and Greater Noida be stopped from Saturday till further notice, there had been no such order in Ghaziabad. Officials in Ghaziabad said they would adopt a wait-and-watch policy prior to issuing this sort of curbs.

In Noida, 25 teams from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, Noida Authority and UPPCB had been going around the city to make sure no such activity that aids air pollution takes place. Nine fireplace tenders sprinkled town in the morning, and nine more were pressed into service in the evening.


“We have accumulated Rs eight.5 lakh in fines from various construction websites across the district for violating air pollution control norms. Asked about the measures to curb mud air pollution ranges, Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate BN Singh said: “We have sprinkled all of the city and Dadri area as of late. All GRAP (graded response motion plan) regulations can be in place till the location improves.”


Ghaziabad district magistrate Ritu Maheshwari said: “Owing to high stage of mud air pollution in the city, we've initiated plenty of measures, comparable to sprinkling of water to mitigate mud air pollution. But we've now not ordered construction activity to be stopped.
